About Ravidat.com

Marcel Ravidat discovered Lascaux in 1940 after his dog fell into a hole. He returned with his friends to search for the dog, venturing down into a fifty foot cave passageway, where he found his dog, and much more. This cave contained an enormous collection of prehistoric art. Over two thousand images are painted on the walls of the eight hundred foot long cave. Seventeen year-old Marcel Ravidat, on a walk with his dog through the woods near his small hometown in southern France, happened to discover something incredible.

It’s a disappointing truth that there aren’t many physical places to explore, there won’t be any more Ferdinand Magellans, Edmund Hillarys, or Marco Polos, reaching lands on adventurous expeditions- at least not on the surface of this planet. The awe Ravidat felt lighting a candle to illuminate huge paintings of extinct animals made by cavemen fifteen millenia ago is the same feeling every explorer lives for. There is an inherent human desire for the wonder of novelty.

Ravidat.com is made for the kids who would’ve sailed with Darwin or rowed with Lewis & Clark. We deliver you the gems in the rough from the internet. There are thousands of fascinating sites on the internet, but unless you search for them explicitly, it’s difficult to find them. Ravidat.com will satisfy your desire to discover interesting videos, games, and sites on the internet. Currently we have a cache of thousands of curated web pages and this collection is growing everyday.

We are excited at the prospect of providing curious individuals satisfying direction for discovery on the internet, but like any true explorer, we are desirous for more. Maybe Ravidat could become the hub for meta-discussion of the internet. We are thinking of the internet from first principles, so our long-term goals are not yet known. We aren’t certain what Ravidat will become, but we are working every day to make it good. If you have any thoughts or recommendations, we would love your feedback.

Enjoy!
